TIPS AND TRICKS FOR PLANTING
VEGGIES & HERBS

1. Choose the right location! Vegetables and herbs need plenty of sunlight and well-drained soil to thrive. Make sure to choose a location in your garden that gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day and has soil that drains well.

2. Prepare the soil! Before planting, make sure to loosen the soil and add organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure. This will help improve soil structure, drainage, and fertility, which will lead to healthier plants.

3. Plant at the right time! April is a great time to plant cool-season vegetables and herbs, such as lettuce, spinach, peas and cilantro. These plants thrive in cooler temperatures and can be planted directly in the ground.

4. Water regularly! Make sure to water your plants regularly, especially during the dry spells. Vegetables and herbs need consistent moisture to grow and produce a healthy crop.
IF YOU'RE GARDENING IN THE CITY,
THERE ARE A FEW ADDITIONAL TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND!
1. Use Planter Boxes! Planter Boxes are a great option for city gardening, as they allow you to create a garden in a small space without having to dig up your yard. They also provide better drainage and can help protect your plants from soil contamination.

2. Choose compact varieties! When choosing plants for your city garden, look for compact varieties that don't take up too much space. This will allow you to grow more plants in a smaller area.

3. Be mindful of pollution! City air can be polluted, which can impact the health of your plants. To help mitigate this, plant in areas with good air circulation, and consider adding air-purifying plants like spider plants or peace lilies to your garden.
